LF Smith Packet Pick-up Plan

Tuesday, March 24th

Dear Parents,

We have missed seeing our Tiger Family so much! We pray that you and your family are safe. We are all working very hard to begin instruction soon. Our teachers have been making great efforts to contact all of our families. It is very important that you sign up for the platform that they recommend for communication (Class Dojo, Zoom, etc.).

Our teachers have provided me with a list of those students that need a paper packet. We will distribute these packets on Tuesday, March 24th. We will have a car rider pick up line on the front of the school (Perez side) for PPCD and Language Lab students. Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade packets will be picked up on the side of the school where the cafeteria and library are located (Shaver entrance). Parents, due to the importance of maintaining social distancing, only those in cars will be able to pick up packets. If you are unable to reach the school in a car, please call the school on Monday or Tuesday morning between 10:00-11:00 AM to arrange for a mailed packet. Please know that we can only provide packets to those students previously confirmed by the teacher. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher for clarification.

The pick-up times are as follows:

10:30-11:30 AM (PPCD and Language Lab) – Front of School (Perez)

For PK through 4th Grade – Families will enter from Shaver like normal dismissal/arrival time. Families with more than one child should try to come at the time slot of their youngest child. They will receive all packets at this time.

Parents should be prepared to state the grade level of their child, name of their child, and the name of the teacher at each appropriate grade level station. This will make the process go much more quickly. We will have stations for each grade level so you will receive a packet for one child at each grade level station. If you have three students in different grade levels, please be prepared to stop at 3 different stations.

10:30-11:00 AM (PK Time Slot) – Station 11
11:00-11:30 AM (Kinder Time Slot) – Station 9
11:30-12:00 PM (1st Grade Time Slot) – Station 7
12:00-12:30 PM (2nd Grade Time Slot) – Station 5
12:30-1:00 PM (3rd Grade Time Slot) – Station 3
1:00-1:30 PM (4th Grade Time Slot) – Station 1

Our school phones will be manned beginning Monday, March 23rd from 10:00-11:00 AM daily. Thanks so much for your patience during these unprecedented events. We are looking forward to getting started!

Sincerely,
Cathy Danna

A Message from Superintendent Dr. DeeAnn Powell:

Attention Pasadena ISD:

All Pasadena ISD facilities will remain closed for normal operations through Friday, April 10, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Houston area continues to see an increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and health officials report this number is expected to increase as more testing is made available.

The Centers for Disease Control has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. The district anticipates beginning instructional support outside of school through the use of electronic and non-electronic materials on Monday, March 23, 2020. Right now we are working diligently to prepare our staff to be able to provide support and feedback to your students. Parents will receive further information regarding instruction from their child’s campus. Our website has optional extended learning opportunities and activities for students. We encourage parents and students to visit the district’s website and social media often for the most recent updates as we navigate this unprecedented situation together.

The health of Pasadena ISD students, staff and community continues to be the District’s top priority. Pasadena Independent School District will offer curbside grab-and-go free breakfast and lunch to all Pasadena ISD students beginning tomorrow. Parents may drive by any of our traditional High School campuses to pick up a meal for each child present in the vehicle. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Please know we will post information on a regular basis so that our students, families and staff are updated. The information is continually changing and I appreciate your understanding and patience as we move forward. Please plan to be available during regularly calendared school days. Your supervisor will be in contact with you in the very near future.

I am praying for our children and each of you during this most difficult time. I love our district and I have been once again reminded what makes Pasadena ISD so very special.

Take care,
DeeAnn

Attention Pasadena ISD,

Pasadena Independent School District will be closed next week, March 16-20, 2020, in an effort to help prevent the broader spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Pasadena ISD has made this decision in collaboration with many other school districts in the greater Houston area. All University Scholastic League (UIL) and other related school events scheduled for next week are also canceled. The Superintendent will continue to work with state and local authorities to determine any future actions.
